I found some unusual and obscure words, while looking back at the history of hats and hairstyles. Having just finished reading The Professor and the Madman (Simon Winchester, HarperCollins 1998) about the origin of the English Dictionary, I thought it might be fun to explore the definitions and etymology of some of these ancient terms, many of whom have almost disappeared from modern usage. [I break this project into three or four parts, will remain sotuned.]
